Paris Hilton claims she INVENTED Barbiecore style as she opens up about her past – including how Nicole Richie wasn’t the first choice for Simple Life

Paris Hilton is embracing the recent Barbie-inspired fashion trend known as “Barbiecore.”

The 42-year-old DJ has been a trendsetter since her arrival in the 2000s and claims she started dressing in the pink spirit of the Mattel doll long before Margot Robbie took over the screen in the blockbuster Barbie.

“I went for the Barbiecore vibe before the word Barbiecore even existed,” she explained during British Vogue’s “Life in Looks” video, released Thursday.

“I made it up,” she insisted. “Barbie is my idol.” She’s such an icon. “I’ve looked up to her my whole life.”

To prove her point, Paris pointed to the photo of her wearing a deep pink minidress at the opening of Maxim Lounge in Las Vegas in 2001. She complemented the look with a handbag with the image of a Barbie doll.

“It was a pink Versace dress that Donatella gave me and my pink Barbie bag that I bought at FAO Schwartz in New York,” Paris added.

The new mom, who recently addressed criticism about the size of her son’s head, then talked about some other red carpet looks from that era, which often included her favorite accessory: Tinkerbell the pooch.

“When I moved to New York, I had no stylist, no agent, no publicist, nothing like that. “I did everything by myself and I always enjoyed taking my little Tinkerbell with me everywhere,” she said.

“It was just so much fun to dress her up because she was like my first daughter.” She was my best friend, my buddy, my significant other. I miss her so much.’

Another best friend she approached was Nicole Richie, who rose to fame alongside Paris when they made their debut on the reality show The Simple Life.

“It was 2003 and Nicole and I were on set doing the first photo shoot campaign for The Simple Life,” she said while looking at a promotional photo.

“One day I got a call from my agents and they said they wanted my sister and I to go out in the middle of nowhere and live on a farm and basically have our phones, money and everything taken away from us,” she began.

“And my sister Nicky immediately said no.” The first person I thought of was Nicole Richie. She’s been my best friend since we were two years old.’

“And we had so much fun with those looks.” It was very country but sexy. Lots of Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior. There were no reality shows at that point. “That was the first time, the show was the beginning of everything.”

While filming the show in 2005, a famous argument broke out between Paris and Nicole.

The very public feud would make The Simple Life’s fourth season their last together.

In 2005, Paris commented on the split but offered little insight into what actually happened between the young stars.

“It’s no big secret that Nicole and I are no longer friends,” Paris said in a statement at the time. “Nicole knows what she did and that’s all I’ll ever say about it.”

Then, a few months later, Nicole discussed her side of the story, claiming they had “just grown apart.”

A year later, the two were spotted having dinner together in West Hollywood, proving their feud had settled down.
