Parts of Quebec will see their first good snowfall of the season starting midday Sunday, particularly in the south of the province.
Environment Canada is forecasting 15 to 20 centimeters of snow Sunday into Monday morning. Snow will begin to fall in the southernmost regions before continuing eastward.
Heavy snow showers are forecast in the Gatineau, Montreal and Laval regions, resulting in 15 to 20 cm of accumulation and reduced visibility at times. According to Environment Canada, snow could fall at a rate of 2 to 3 cm per hour, heaviest in the evening and at night.
There is even a risk of freezing rain near Gatineau on Sunday afternoon and early evening.
Near Trois-Rivières, in Mauricie, we are talking about a total accumulation of almost 15 cm, with rainfall starting on Sunday evening.
Forecasts show less snowfall in the Quebec region (5 to 10 cm), but northeast winds could cause gusts of 30 km/h or even 50 to 70 km/h near the Saint River. -Laurent.
There could also be some snow and blowing snow in places on Monday, with an additional accumulation of 2 to 4 cm.
However, a snow warning is in effect for the Beauce region, where total accumulations of nearly 15 cm are possible from Sunday evening into Monday. Rapid snow accumulation could make travel difficult in some areas.
