In his appearance, Villanueva, who was responsible for providing voter turnout data this election Sunday, recalled that in the last elections the external vote rate remained at 1.2%. It must be taken into account that the requested vote was still established in 2020 and that it was the year of the pandemic, which manifested itself very intensely on the voting dates in the American countries where most Galicians live.
These are the first elections since compulsory voting was abolished, and voter turnout is well below 34.7%, the highest turnout record for foreign elections set in 2005.
Villanueva also recalled that the counting of external votes will take place from Monday the 26th.
