Passengers despair over alleged fire in London underground; see check

London Underground passengers panicked today after a suspected fire broke out and smashed a train’s windows in an attempt to escape, according to British tabloid Mirror.

What happened

People broke windows to escape the train as the carriages filled with smoke.

Records published on social networks show panic at the subway stationwhile passengers were trapped in train cars with doors that refused to open.

Other people outside tried to break the windows to get those trapped out.

When the windows broke, dozens of passengers got out. AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

One of the passengers told the Mirror that the carriages were beginning to fill with smoke. because the doors wouldn’t open.

Outside the station, people were being misled and the fire department was present.

A spokesman for London’s transport agency “regretted the distress caused”.

London Fire Brigade visited the station and confirmed there was no fire. We are investigating the details of this incident.”

British Transport Police said the incident was likely due to a faulty braking system..

We received a report of a faulty train in #ClaphamCommon just before 6pm this evening and are aware of video showing passengers trying to disembark the train,” police said in a statement on Twitter.

The London Fire Brigade has confirmed this information.saying that there was no evidence of fire.

Firefighters have been called to report smoke from a train at Clapham Common tube station this evening (5 May).”
