The beginning of a dream… Everything went wrong! A viral video showed the moment a cruise ship was flooded and its corridors were blocked by water. The recording’s owner, TikTok user Amber, described the experience as “absolutely frightening,” but her followers were quick to compare the incident to the sinking of the Titanic.
The passenger, who was staying on the seventh floor of the Carnival Radiance, said the incident occurred on the first night of the trip, on October 17, in Long Beach, California. “At 2am we were woken up by water spraying from the roof of the ship. Security told me I wasn’t allowed to film. It was absolutely terrifying. Still waiting for company contact,” he wrote in the caption.
The video, which has been viewed more than 9 million times, shows the liner’s team trying to clean the water in the corridor. In another shot, Amber still shows her hut with no lights on. See:
@dawn7877 Our room was awash in the glow of a carnival cruise. It’s been 4 hours and no one has come and spoken to us. I’m like that 😡 #carnivalcruise #flooded #nohelp ♬ Original sound Amber

The images were enough to scare social media users, who immediately referenced the Titanic. “At first I thought this was literally a Titanic experience museum or something,” one person wrote. “Celine Dion singing ‘My Heart Will Go On’ in the background,” joked another. Other users mentioned the film even more often: “I’ll never let go, Jack.”

Other profiles were concerned about the security inside the ship. “I would go straight to the main deck with a life jacket just in case. I won’t get stuck behind one of their gates,” said one. “I see this and I’m on the first security boat that leaves there,” one netizen added. One cruise enthusiast said: “I’ve been on several Carnival cruises and never had any problems, but if I saw that much water I would absolutely panic.”
In a statement, Carnival Cruise Line told News.Com.Au that the flooding was caused by “a burst water pipe” that “affected an area of the ship representing less than 2% of its cabins.” “The ship’s team members cleaned the area and repaired the pipes,” the spokeswoman concluded.
Carnival Radiance, formerly Carnival Victory, was launched in 2000 and underwent a $200 million renovation in 2020. Last year, a plumbing problem also caused a floor at Carnival Vista to flood and travelers to walk through floodwaters.
