Patrice Bergerons final trophy

Patrice Bergeron’s final trophy?

Patrice Bergeron, who didn’t win the Stanley Cup, could still take solace with an individual honor.

The National Hockey League announced Tuesday that the Bruins captain has been nominated for the Selke Trophy. The latter rewards the best defensive attacker on the Bettman circuit.

The Quebecer was able to win this honor for the sixth time in his career, having won it in the 2011-2012, 2013-2014, 2014-2015, 2016-2017 and 2021-2022 seasons.

The other two nominees are Toronto Maple Leafs’ Mitchell Marner and New Jersey Devils’ Nico Hischier.

Bergeron had 58 points in 78 games last season while maintaining an excellent +35 record. Marner, for his part, had the best offensive season of his career with 99 points in 80 games.

With 80 points and a record +33, Hischier will surely be at the forefront of the race to win the Selke Trophy.

Another honor for Anze Kopitar?

The NHL has also revealed the identities of the three players nominated for the Lady Byng Trophy.

Anze Kopitar, Jack Hughes and Brayden Point are the nominees for this honor, which recognizes the NHL’s gentleman player.

The Los Angeles Kings captain was able to get his hands on that trophy for the second time in his career after winning the honor for the 2015-2016 season.

It was Kyle Connor of the Winnipeg Jets who won it last season.
