Patrick Kane has made his choice

Forward Patrick Kane has decided to continue his career in the National Hockey League with the Detroit Red Wings as he will sign a contract with that organization.

This was announced by The Athletic website on Tuesday morning through its journalist Chris Johnston. As of now, the team has not made any official announcement.

For his part, Daily Faceoff expert Frank Seravalli reported that the agreement would last for one year and cost $2.75 million in salaries. Kane would earn just over $2 million for the remainder of the campaign.

Rumors surrounding the 35-year-old veteran and three-time Stanley Cup winner have been circulating heavily in recent months. After undergoing hip surgery over the summer, Kane saw his name associated with various teams, be it the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Buffalo Sabers or the Florida Panthers.

In Detroit he will reunite with forward Alex DeBrincat, with whom he worked with the Hawks from 2017 to 2022. Last year, the winger scored 57 points in 73 games with the New York Hawks and Rangers and contributed a goal and five assists in six playoff games.

Kane will also have to have a little chat with Daniel Sprong, who wears 88 in Detroit. The rookie never had a number other than this during his National League career. Sprong could therefore be offered some gifts in exchange for his jersey.

The Wings are third in the NHL Atlantic Division and will visit the Rangers on Wednesday before hosting the Blackhawks the next day. Afterwards we go to the Bell Center on Saturday to meet the Canadian.
