Patrick Kane seriously injured?

Forward Patrick Kane is injured again and Detroit Red Wings fans are somewhat concerned that the star player will miss more games this season, even though head coach Derek Lalonde made it clear that he was not hit in the hip this time.

The 35-year-old veteran received two touches from Pontus Holmberg early in the first period of Sunday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. According to his organization, he sustained a lower body injury and did not return to the game.

Kane was given a one-year contract in late November and missed several weeks of sports while recovering from hip surgery he underwent in the offseason. Since arriving with the Wings, he has collected seven goals and nine assists for 16 points in 18 games.

Detroit won 4-2 at the Queen City and sits fourth in the National Hockey League's Atlantic Division with 49 points, one fewer than the Leafs. Their next game is scheduled for Wednesday against the Florida Panthers.
