Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval threw some shade on Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes in an official city proclamation on Friday.
Pureval declared “They Gotta Play Us Day” this Sunday in honor of the city’s Bengals who face the Chiefs in the AFC Championship.

In his proclamation, the mayor noted Mahomes’ 3-0 record against Joe Burrow and joked that officials had asked Burrow to take a paternity test to confirm if he was Mahomes’ father.

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas got wind of Pureval’s jabs and called them “weak as hell.”
Mahomes’ wife Brittany agreed.
“WEAK. & embarrassing,” she tweeted.

In last year’s AFC title game, the Bengals beat the Chiefs 27-24 in overtime after Cincinnati beat Kansas City 17-3 in second half and overtime. It was the Bengals’ first appearance in the Super Bowl since the 1988 season.
