Patti Newton has revealed intimate details about her marriage to husband of nearly half a century, Bert Newton.

The wife of the late entertainment legend, who died of health complications in October 2021 at the age of 83, revealed the couple would fight in “World War II”.

“I never say our marriage was perfect and we didn’t have the blues because we did,” Patti told New Idea.

“We had world wars, but we were good together and we laughed a lot and had a lot of fun in life and made a lot of hard decisions together.”

It comes after Patti revealed she built a shrine to her late husband Bert in the family home.

During an interview on The Kyle and Jackie O Show, Patti confirmed that Bert’s office is now a “Bert Newton Museum.”

“I never say our marriage was perfect and we didn’t have the blues because we had them. We had world wars, but we were good together,” Patti told New Idea

“You should see it now. It’s definitely a sanctuary. You go in there and there are all his hats in there,” she said.

“I built this new room for him, which he actually never got to see, but that’s where I put his logia – but instead of 36 there are only 17 in the room because he distributed them.

“I don’t know who else has his logies, but he was a very generous man.”

Patti – who was married to Bert for 47 years – buried her husband in November 2021.

At the time of his death he was receiving palliative care at a clinic in Melbourne.

He was hospitalized in March this year and had leg surgery in May. He needed surgery after his toe became infected before Christmas.

The infection was “linked to his diabetes” and threatened his life. Doctors told him the operation was a “decision of life and death.”

Doctors told Bert that if he kept the leg he would only have “months to live” rather than years if he chose to have it amputated.
