Paul Grant revealed just weeks before his death that he had “drank too much” and admitted to “wasting” his “Star Wars” fortune.
The actor explained how he spent his money on sex workers and drugs in an interview he conducted at London’s King’s Cross station last month.
He explained it was “my last day of drinking,” adding, “I have to stop it.”
The father of three children collapsed in front of the same station on Thursday afternoon. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced brain dead.
His “devastated” family said his life support machine was turned off on Sunday. His cause of death has not yet been announced.

Mr Grant, who famously played an Ewok in Return of the Jedi, where he starred alongside Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill, suggested three weeks before his death that it was time to quit drinking.
“I’ve been thinking about it, it’s my last day of drinking,” the Harry Potter actor told YouTube channel Revelation 22:13. “I drank too much.”
Mr Grant admitted he made “money” from working in the industry but had spent all of his money on activities he seemed to enjoy.
He said he’s “enjoyed my life” and joked, “You only live once, right?”
When asked if he battled alcohol or drug addiction, he reiterated that he wasn’t “addicted to anything” and was “just having fun.”
The actor said, “I can drink for a whole damn day or a month, but I’m not addicted to it.”

‘Star Wars’ and ‘Harry Potter’ actor Paul Grant has tragically died at the age of 56 after a long battle with drugs and alcohol.
His family confirmed the father of three was found collapsed by police outside King’s Cross railway station on Thursday afternoon.
He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced brain dead.
It’s not yet clear what caused Mr Grant’s death, but the 4ft 4in dwarf had previously spoken openly about how he turned to alcohol, drugs and prostitutes after splitting from his wife, while also being off the streets was rescued.
The actor was talking about his struggles for almost a decade when photos of him snorting cocaine surfaced the internet.
The then 47-year-old dwarf, who played a leprechaun in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, said his life spiraled out of control after he split from his wife Janet Crowson.
At the time, Paul told the Sunday Mirror he had cheated on her several times and gone AWOL as he blamed himself for the breakdown of their marriage.
He admitted: “I need help. I did cocaine and it only got worse. I drink and smoke what I can get.’
Mr Grant, from Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, previously spoke in 2014 about how he blew up all his money on alcohol, drugs and prostitutes when his life spiraled out of control after separating from his wife.
He told the Sunday Mirror he cheated on her several times, went AWOL and blamed himself for the breakdown of their marriage.
At the time he admitted: “I need help. I did cocaine and it only got worse. I drink and smoke what I can get.’
“I had a family, I was married, now I’m divorced. I lost everything. I have nothing, my stuff, pictures, clothes are everywhere,” he added.
“I don’t know what I want at the moment. I had money, I screwed everything up, I spent it on drugs and prostitutes.”
Mr Grant is survived by his girlfriend Maria, two daughters and a son, stepchildren and grandchildren.
His daughter, Sophie Jayne Grant, 28, spoke after his death.
She said she was “devastated” and described the actor, who starred in the 1980 hit “Labyrinth,” as “a legend in many ways.”
Speaking to The Sun, Peterborough native Sophie said: “He always put a smile and a laugh on everyone’s faces.”
She added: “My dad I love you so much sleep tight.”
Paul was a father, grandfather and actor who would do anything for anyone, said his devastated daughter.
She spoke of how much he loved his daughters, son and girlfriend Maria Dwyer, 64.
Maria described Paul as the love of her life, who completed her life in a heartbreaking tribute.
A family friend also told the newspaper: “He was a lovely guy. He always struggled with drug and alcohol addictions, but he was a talented actor.
