This Saturday (February 12), those who passed through the Lourdes district were able to witness a somewhat unusual gathering of children, young people and gentlemen at the door of the most fashionable hotel in the centersouth region of Belo Horizonte. Paul McCartney is in town. Expectations are high and fans’ affection for the Beatle seems to transcend the inhospitability of Lourdes’ sidewalks, the rain and the heat. They patiently wait for hours for the arrival of Macca, who landed in Belo Horizonte on Friday (December 1st).

Some wait sitting, others standing, with backpacks on their backs, bottles of water and snacks. Some came at 10 a.m. and stayed until 9 p.m., others only came for a few hours. There were storms and heat, all visible albeit from a distance Sir Paul McCartney. The bassist of the Liverpool quartet will perform in two shows in the capital Minas Gerais, this Sunday (December 3rd) and Monday (December 4th).

No passing car could escape the watchful eyes of security forces and hotel staff. While waiting, they exchange exciting stories, photos and tales.

There are those who have already seen 118 Paul McCartney shows and others who have come to watch them for the first time. “I took leave from work to follow Macca’s tour in Brazil,” said journalist Lucia Camargo. There were also people who came from Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Espírito Santo. A mother brought a baby in her arms for Paul to carry. There was also no shortage of attempts to get the Beatles’ attention. There was even a serenade for the singer at the hotel door, from which he loudly heard “Hey Jude”.

But not a single word came from the Beatle, he fled to the hotel and didn’t even come out to say goodbye. The disappointment was collective. “But we’re still really looking forward to the show,” said fan Euler Faccio.
