“PAW Patrol 2: The Power Patrol – The Movie”: better than the first

All the puppies are back and this time they are fighting a mad scientist.

From the first images, this second feature film dedicated to the adventures of the PAW Patrol pups is reminiscent of a Marvel film. The same hectic rhythm, the same catchy music, the same story that’s supposed to be inspiring.

Because after a meteorite hits Aventureville, Stella, Marcus, Ruben, Chase, Rocky, Zuma – but not Liberty, who has now joined the force led by Ryder – are equipped with superpowers that make it possible to extract the crystals present in the object to keep in space. As you can imagine, the stones are coveted by Mr. Hellinger – the town’s former mayor who was deposed in the first feature film – and Victoria Vance, a scientist with evil intentions.

Surprisingly, Montreal’s Mikros Animation Studios, who handled the visuals and animation, did even better than the first film. The colors are more vibrant, the textures richer, the effects more elaborate. Because unlike television series, which many parents find lobotomized and “lobotomizing,” feature films are subject to attentive supervision, both visually and in terms of content.

Here, Stella in particular – who is all too often forgotten in the television series – becomes the central character and her misadventures will serve as examples of her resilience to young filmgoers who are happy to see their heroes again in new adventures.

Visually, in this second part – yes, a third film has just been announced – we find allusions to a number of cinema classics, including Star Wars, the Marvel series and even Wall-E.

No doubt, the pleasure is there!

Paw Patrol 2: The Super Patrol – The film hits theaters across the province on September 29th.
