Colombia’s President-elect Gustavo Petro asserted that change, hope, love and the tremendous effort to win the elections are not right in this country without peace.

He stressed that the central objective of his mandate will be peace, which means that the 10 million voters of his rival in this election, Rodolfo Hernández, are welcome in his government, even the former candidate himself can talk to the new authorities, when whenever he wants .

“It means we don’t expect this government to use power to destroy the enemy. It means we forgive ourselves. It means that the opposition that we will have, under the leaderships that they want (…) will always be welcome at the Nariño Palace to discuss Colombia’s problems”.

Speaking at the Movistar Arena Coliseum in that capital, Petro reminded thousands of people that today he cannot follow the political climate that is affecting Colombians in this century of hatred, confrontations, literally to the point of death, persecution and isolation accompanied. .

He expressed that there will undoubtedly be resistance, and perhaps fierce and stubborn, and perhaps many times we will not understand, but from this government that begins, there will never be political persecution or legal persecution, there will only be respect and dialogue give.

“In this way we will be able to build what we called the Grand National Accord a few days ago, and which has already started to be built among 11 million Colombians (their voters), but it must be built among 50 Be millions, it must be with the whole society.”

He explained that the Great Accord must begin to be built on binding regional dialogue, which means that what is decided regionally to end violent conflict, build regional prosperity becomes the norm, becomes binding and is fulfilled.

It will be regional dialogues that will allow us to look at the conflict in its historical specificity and take into account all the differences, he added.

“Not only for those who took up arms, but for this silent diversity of peasants, indigenous peoples, women, youth, dialogues on which to build the reforms that Colombia needs to be able to live together in peace,” he stressed .
