Singer Bobby Bazini likes to compare his artistic journey to creating a pearl in a shell.
The Laurentians singer, formerly under the auspices of the Universal Music label, felt it was time to explore his musical independence.
“I probably had the best years of my life at Universal,” he says carefully. “But like a pearl that forms in its shell, at some point it’s ready to come out,” he imagines, who presented some tracks from this new album earlier this year during the Quebec Summer Festival.
It was therefore surrounded by local artists, which was a career newbie for the Quebecer, and heavily inspired by the work of Joao Gilberto, a legend in the music world of Brazil, that gave birth to Bobby Bazini Pearl, the fifth chapter of his career. presented on the Spectra Musique label. Equipped with a softer style and aromas of exotic jazz, his new creations will take you to the most beautiful beaches in South America.
Le Journal had the pleasure of listening to the album for the first time and assures you that the sound it offers will warm up your summer for a few weeks.
The scrapbookpearlin five questions
What is the best context to listen to this album?
I tend to say during a car ride because that’s where I listened to him the most. On the other hand, Connor’s mother [Seidel]the producer of the album told me she could imagine listening to it by the water in Europe with a glass of white wine!
Do you have a saying or expression that you could associate with your project?
“Everything comes at the right time, who knows how to wait”, I would say. It reminds me of the process of pearl formation. For this album I needed all my albums.
Just tonally: In what form do you like your new work best?
I would say vinyl. In the creative process we talked as if the album was made for this form. I personally buy a lot of vinyl; I like the sound but also the graphics of these discs.
Which musical instrument do you associate the most with your album?
I will choose the classical guitar. Thinking back to the making of the album, I see myself in the studio with Connor, strumming our guitars in silence.
If you only had one room style to play your album?
The ideal would be to be able to open venues like MTelus in Montreal all over the world. I think it’s an album that’s best heard in smaller venues and there needs to be closeness to the audience but also a lot of atmosphere.
- Bobby Bazini will release his new album pearl on August 25 and will defend it on Quebec soil on November 25 and 1um December, in Montreal and Quebec.
