Jessica Pegula defeated world No. 1 player Iga Swiatek in service with 19 breaks.
The third player in the world won the duel in three sets 6:2, 6(4)-7 and 6:4. Pegula reaches the finals of the National Bank Open for the first time after being eliminated in the semifinals of the last two editions.
One particularly strange game saw repeated breaks of serve between players. It was six in eight games in the first set, four for Pegula and two for Swiatek.
The second set continued with four service breaks on each side. And why stop on such a good path? Pegula managed three and Swiatek two in the last heat.
