In Peru, a police team with an officer dressed as Santa Claus launched an operation against a drug trafficking gang in a dangerous neighborhood north of Lima. On Christmas Eve, undercover investigators caught two men selling cocaine and marijuana paste at a private home in the city of Huaral, about 70 kilometers from the capital.
“The strategy was successful. “Christmas has come for the 'evil reindeer,'” joked Col. Walter Palomino, chief of the police's Green Squadron. For some time now, law enforcement authorities have been distracting criminals by using disguises and launching operations on special dates. This time it was an officer in a traditional Santa Claus costume who broke down the door of the house where the drug deal was taking place and arrested one of the criminals.
