Violence erupted again in a Copa Peru game. A group of criminals disguised as fans attacked and destroyed the journalist teams covering the match between Defensor Cubillas de Espinar and Deportivo Garcilaso in Cusco.
The unfortunate event happened last Tuesday afternoon at Espinar municipal stadium.
According to journalist Elio Condorhuamán, local club president Juan Carlos Mamani approached the DNA press team in a loud voice at the end of the game and incited the “fans” to attack the pressmen.
“They destroyed everything, laptops, cell phones, tripods thrown on the field and microphones, our reporters were beaten,” said the journalist.
Condorhuamán also explained that police officers were only watching what was happening from the pitch. There wasn’t even a man in uniform in the stands.
“I hold Club Cubillas President Juan Carlso Mamani responsible for this, who threatened us and motivated the public to attack us,” said Elio Condorhuamán.
The value of the lost would be around 7,000 S/7,000, in addition, theft of belongings such as mobile phones and personal belongings of journalists is accused. Some of the aggression was captured on video by the victims.
