The Peru women’s volleyball team will experience a busy second half of 2023. The national sextet, led by coach Francisco Hervás, traveled to Argentina for their first pre-season friendlies last Monday. In all, the Matadoras will play four practice games against the Panthers, the first of which takes place this Tuesday, July 11.
For this trip to Argentinian lands, DT called up experienced players such as Shiamara Almeida, Karla Ortiz, Ginna López and Flavia Montes. The big absentee will be receiver Ángela Leyva, who has been out of the national team since 2021.

What tournaments will the Peruvian volleyball team participate in in 2023?
The first official competition of the Peru women’s team will be the 2023 Pan American Cup, which will be held from August 6th to 13th in the city of Ponce, Puerto Rico. A few days later, the team travels to the XXXV. South American Championship to Recife, Brazil, to be played on August 19-23 according to the South American Volleyball Confederation (CSV) schedule.
Later, from September 16-24, the matadors will compete at the Japan Pre-Olympic Tournament for a place at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. In doing so, they have to compete against rivals such as Brazil, Argentina, Turkey, Belgium and others.
Peruvian Volleyball Team: Pre-Olympic Game
The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has scheduled the following match for the Peru team in Group B of Paris 2024 qualifiers. Only the first two teams will receive a ticket to the maximum sports fair (the game schedules are based on Peruvian time).
