Italian police are looking for a fiveyearold Peruvian girl who was put in a suitcase and abducted from a hotel in Florence, in the north of the country.

The child has been identified Kataleya Mia Chicillo Alvarez. She lived with her family at the Astor Hotel, which is home to about 140 undocumented immigrants. The kidnapping happened 9 days ago, on June 10th. Police have not yet released any information about the whereabouts of the girl.

According to Metro, CCTV footage shows the girl playing in the building’s courtyard at 3:12 p.m. before disappearing without a trace. The only witness is a threeyearold child who claims to have seen it Kataleya cried as she was dragged by a man. Police believe the child was placed in a suitcase and abducted through one of the hotel’s two exits.

Investigators removed the hotel guests and searched the premises for evidence. Searches also took place in another building nearby, which may have been used by the kidnappers. There are reports that the family of Kataleya had problems with another Peruvian family who were considered “pretty aggressive”.

The police classified the case as a kidnapping, although no one contacted them with a ransom request.
