Pete Carroll’s comments confirm that it’s over for Colin Kaepernick.

By successfully avoiding Colin Kaepernick for five years, the NFL has made it much easier to keep avoiding him now. That fact came to light Wednesday after comments by Seahawks coach Pete Carroll regarding the possibility of Kaepernick being included in the depth chart currently led by seasoned three-year veteran Drew Locke.

Carroll could have invited Kaepernick to practice at any time. Any team could. No team has had this in the last five years.

The Seahawks invited Kaepernick to visit in 2017. Some believe the Seahawks did not go after Kaepernick because of the possibility that the locker room would end up being split between Kaepernick and Russell Wilson. Now that Wilson is gone, why not take a look at Kaepernick?

If the Seahawks won’t even let him practice, obviously no one will sign him. Not now, not after five years of Kaepernick not successfully getting into the NFL.

The Steelers could be an option. They signed Mitchell Trubisky this week and they have contracts with Mason Rudolph and Dwayne Haskins. For now, no one will change the course that the NFL has collectively been heading for five years now.

Right or wrong, it’s all over.
