Peter Andre reveals he hasn’t had a birthday party in 10 years as he found himself in a ‘very dark place’ following the tragic death of his brother

Peter Andre has revealed he hasn’t thrown a birthday party for ten years following the death of his beloved brother Andrew.

Andrew passed away in 2012 at the age of 54 after a brave battle with kidney cancer, leaving his younger brother Pete and the rest of the family devastated.

In a candid interview, the 50-year-old singer opened up about how he fell into a deep depression and couldn’t think about celebrating his birthday every year.

He said, “When I lost my brother, I was in a very, very dark place.” You go through grief. It’s not the same as anxiety and depression, although you may experience the same symptoms.”

Pete’s wife Emily had organized a surprise 40th birthday party at Browns Bar & Brasserie in Covent Garden a year after Andrew’s death, but Pete said he “broke down and kept disappearing” at the party.

Since then, he has avoided throwing big parties on his birthday.

For his 50th birthday in February, Pete took his family on a luxury getaway to Dubai to make incredible memories together while staying at Anantara World Islands Resort.

Peter revealed in his OK! Column he would like to celebrate “little by little” throughout the year instead of just having one big gathering.

He wrote, “I’ll be in Dubai with all the family.” I guess it’s kind of like a birthday party. I mean I won’t be 50 until the end of the month so I’ll get in there sooner lol.

“Turning 50 always scared me a little, but it suited my 30 years in the industry.”

“It sounds better to focus on 30 and not 50!” It sounds old, but it’s not. i feel so young I work out, I love food, I love life.’

Last December, Pete reflected on the loss of his sibling.

“It’s almost overwhelming to know that it’s been a full decade.” “Of course we’ll be with him on this sad anniversary,” Pete told New! Magazine.

“It will always be a difficult time and it doesn’t get any easier.”

“Milestones like this are a time for reflection and it’s a very emotional time for us as a family. It makes Christmas a bittersweet time.”

Andrew was diagnosed with kidney cancer in February 2012 and underwent months of chemotherapy before tragically passing away in December of that year.

Peter had postponed his tour to spend time with his brother while the whole family sat by his bedside in his final moments.
