Peter Crombie, who was a recurring and beloved character as “Crazy” Joe Davola on “Seinfeld,” died Wednesday at age 71. Details of his death were not released, but he was apparently briefly ill.
Crombie's unpredictable Davola appeared in five episodes of the fourth season, including stalking Jerry and once dating Elaine. The character was named after TV producer Joe Davola, who worked for Tollin/Robbins Productions and has dozens of credits.
The actor had 35 credits, including the films My Dog Skip, Natural Born Killers, The Blob, Se7en, Rising Sun and Born on the Fourth of July.

His TV resume included the TV miniseries “House of Frankenstein,” “NYPD Blue,” “Walker,” “Texas Ranger,” “Diagnosis Murder,” “Law & Order,” “Perfect Strangers,” “Spenser: For Hire,” “LA Law,” “LA Firefighters,” and others.
Details about survivors or memorial plans were not immediately available.
