LE FIGARO.- After months of fighting, the Russian army now controls almost the entire town of Bachmout. What would his fall mean?
Petro POROSHENKO.– Nothing. For ten long months, Bachmout, fortress and symbol of Ukrainian resilience, has fulfilled its mission, allowing our army to eliminate tens of thousands of Russian soldiers sent into battle without worrying about human casualties. The fighting there is very tough and every week I go to the funerals of loved ones who were killed there. It’s painful, don’t think it’s an easy war. If the weapons that reach us now had been given to us in 2014, history would have been different. But the world is beginning to realize who Mr. Putin is. After years of reiterating that he should not be trusted, I now have a threefold message: do not fear the consequences of his defeat, do not fear…
