Radio-Canada has Zénith, TVA has La Voix and Chanteurs Masqués, and now this fall, Noovo will be popping up with a new proposition in the niche of the major televised music competition hosted by Phil Roy.
A first, the broadcaster confirmed to Showbizz.net, marks the end of Who can sing? , which will stop airing next year after two seasons (2021 and 2022) on Noovo.
In La guerre des fans, a brand new variety game that we promise will get wild and whose concept was invented here, 16 Quebec City celebrities compete around host Phil Roy. your goal? To prove that they and they know the musical hits of the last few decades better than anyone!
Like Zénith, La Guerre des Fans will take the form of a tournament. Each week, four stars compete in different challenges, and the one with the worst performance has to leave at the end of the episode. At the end of the first four matches, 12 of the 16 participants have been classified for the second round. Eight will then be drawn from the draw to advance to the semi-finals, and the grand finals at the end of the 10-week season will pit the top four contenders against each other, with only one being crowned Ultimate Fan!
Surprise guests and performances will also help get the party started at this hour-long weekly happening, which will of course tickle our nostalgic streak, which is always very sensitive (and even carries over to the theater these days!) The show is directed by Daniel Laurin, who regularly appears on large sets (Rvolution, La Voix, Star Académie).
Pixcom, which generally leans more toward fiction (Indefensible, Alerts, Counteroffer, Anna and Arnaud, Audrey is back), is also behind Next Up! and Bijoux de famille produced by La Guerre des Fans in association with Bell Media.
