Philadelphia Flyers mascot Gritty excites the crowd by posing with the infamous “emotional support alligator” on the Jumbotron … a month after the same five-foot-tall reptile was turned away from the Phillies’ baseball game

As if the deranged, orange hell-beast of a Philadelphia Flyers mascot couldn’t get any scarier – he’s gotten his hands on an alligator.

But this is no ordinary alligator: this is an emotional support alligator, one of the most beautiful creatures to enter the city of brotherly love.

Just before a game against the Carolina Hurricanes, Flyers mascot Gritty was seen holding “Wally,” an emotional support alligator, during the game.

Gritty posed for photos before the game and dressed up as the late “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin for Halloween.

While this is Wally’s first time at one of Philadelphia’s premier sports venues, this isn’t his first try.

Wally’s owner, Joie Henney of Hershey, Pennsylvania, tried to take him to a Philadelphia Phillies baseball game at Citizens Bank Park in September.

However, they were turned away because the ballpark’s policy is to only allow service animals and not emotional support animals.

Henney told CBS News that Wally makes him feel loved, adding, “I get lonely and stuff like that, and he seems to sense that and will come up to me and give me a hug.”

Perhaps Wally could provide Henney with emotional support on the unhappy drive home from the Wells Fargo Center – after the Flyers lost 3-2 to the Hurricanes.
