Gagnon was used primarily as a reserve and played 11 games in the regular season last year. He was also in the jersey for the “Als”’s three playoff games in 2023.

“Philippe brings us depth at a critical position in football,” Alouettes general manager Danny Maciocia said in a press release. No matter what the order is, we feel comfortable with it. He will be with us for the sixth year and knows our inner workings well. We look forward to being able to count on his services next season.”

The Sparrows selected Gagnon with the second overall pick in the 2016 auction. He played three seasons in Montreal before spending the 2019 season with the Ottawa Rouge et Noir. He then returned to the Alouettes via the free agent market.
