The landslide occurred in the morning in a mountainous gold mining area in Davao de Oro province on Mindanao island.
Heavy rains caused flooding and landslides there this week.
Rescuers have recovered six bodies from the mud and the search is still ongoing, Monkayo town police officer Rhyan Nanca told AFP. Two people were taken out of the home and transferred to a care unit, he said.
Monkayo Mayor Manual Zamora on Wednesday warned residents of “high-risk areas” of the municipality to leave their homes, his chief of staff Rodielyn Manugas told AFP.
The latter gave a slightly higher toll of seven deaths, including a child, adding that four people could also be missing.
