Kanye West stirs up controversy again with a nearly $1 million EFE/Rhona Wise metal prosthetic
Kanye West, the 46-year-old rapper and music producer, has once again caused controversy after replacing his teeth with metal dentures. According to reports from the Chron, West showed off around $850,000 worth of smiles on his Instagram Story.
The artist himself compared his new image to the James Bond villain Jaws, known for his metallic mouth in the films The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) and Moonraker (1979). The titanium prosthesis was designed by Dr. Custom designed and manufactured by Thomas Connelly, the self-proclaimed “Father of Diamond Dentistry,” and cosmetic dentist Naoki Hayashi.
In an interview with Complex Magazine, Dr. Connelly clarified that West's natural teeth were not extracted to ensure the rapper kept all of his teeth “healthy and happy,” as he only had a type of mouth guard constructed like the one he had. Use boxers.
Connelly didn't hesitate to express his excitement over the outcome of his collaboration with West, reposting the metal teeth reveal on his own Instagram Story and praising the collaborative work with the artist.
“It was a pleasure to work with every step of the process. His vision to create unique art extends beyond dental advancements. Combining his vision with dentistry has created a new look that is epic!”
