A piece of the cultural history of the Bohemian Forest, a piece of world history in private: the Fotoatelier Seidel Museum in Český Krumlov – a slightly different visit to the upper Vltava.
It’s not like Český Krumlov hasn’t been discovered yet. There is the mighty castle that stands high above the city, as if it had emerged from a vision of Franz Kafka. There is the baroque palace theater, the only one of its kind, complete with stage machinery, brochures and lace, preserved in its original form, as if Prince Schwarzenberg had just left it. There is the Egon Schiele Art Center with its small and beautiful exhibition of the biography and work of its namesake and always surprising temporary exhibitions of contemporary Czech art. And last but not least, there is the city itself with its narrow streets and picturesque squares, beautifully squeezed into a bend of the Vltava.
Jewel of Český Krumlov
All of this has been a destination for international tourist flows for years, much described and even more admired. And yet, even in Český Krumlov, little noticed by the tourist community, there are still many small miracles waiting to be appreciated for their worth.
