The Sûreté du Québec struck last weekend to dismantle a drug network in Chaudière-Appalaches. The extensive operation resulted in six searches, the arrest of three people and the seizure of more than 400 pounds of drugs.

The operation took place on Saturday and Sunday in four communes, namely Sainte-Marie in Beauce, Saint-Gervais and Saint-Lazare in Bellechasse and Nantes, near the territorial border of Beauce.

The ongoing investigation has allowed officers from the National Organized Crime Squad to seize an impressive amount of drugs.

A total of 18,000 methamphetamine tablets, more than 250 g of cocaine, more than 23 kg of crystal methamphetamine, 900 kg of products used in production, more than 930 cannabis plants and more than 100 kg of cannabis in various forms were seized.
Six weapons confiscated
During searches of private homes, shops and vehicles, the SQ also seized six long guns, a brass knuckles and a pill press, as well as methamphetamine manufacturing equipment.

Three people, all Chaudière-Appalaches residents aged 30, 36 and 40, were arrested and questioned by investigators before being released. You could be charged with manufacturing, dealing and possession of narcotics.

“It’s a big strike, a big operation, which emerges from an investigation that began in June 2022. Several police officers were mobilized,” confirms Hélène St-Pierre, spokeswoman for the SQ.

Also involved in the operations were a dog handler, an explosives technician, the tactical response team and various police forces.
Another operation in Matane
Last Friday, the SQ carried out another drug campaign.

Police went to an apartment on Rue du Ruisseau in Matane, where they discovered 58g of cocaine, more than 7g of wax, several pills containing synthetic drugs and prescription drugs, several thousand dollars in cash and items used for drug trafficking .

The 23-year-old resident of the building, Guillaume Lefrançois-Huet, was arrested and appeared via video conference on Friday.
He remained detained throughout the weekend until his return to court in Matane, scheduled for today.
The suspect faces various charges of possession and trafficking in narcotics, as well as breach of recognition.
