Thousands of people took to the streets in London and New York, but also in Berlin, Rome, Sydney, Marseille and other cities

On Saturday, hundreds of thousands of people took part in demonstrations in many major cities in various countries around the world in support of the people of the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian cause. The protests were organized after the Israeli army intensified bombings and fighting in the Gaza Strip last week, which had a significant impact on the population, which was left with limited food and water supplies. According to the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry, more than 7,000 Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza Strip.

One of the most attended demonstrations took place in London in the United Kingdom: according to police figures, between 50,000 and 70,000 people gathered, while organizers say there were 500,000 participants. Aerial footage shows thousands of people marching through the streets of the English capital and almost completely filling the wide Westminster Bridge: The demonstrators called on English Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to put pressure on the Israeli government to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. Sunak has not called for a ceasefire in recent days, only a “humanitarian pause” to allow aid to reach the Gaza population.

Other large demonstrations took place in New York and Los Angeles in the USA, in various European cities such as Rome, Berlin, Stockholm and Copenhagen, but also in Australia, New Zealand, Turkey and Asian cities such as Seoul. A small demonstration even took place in Marseille, France, despite the French government banning demonstrations in support of Palestine.
