A man in his 40s was killed in a snowmobile evasive maneuver late Thursday night in the community of Sainte-Famille on the island of Orleans in Quebec.

The victim, who was driving off-road in a field near Avenue Royale around 11:30 p.m., reportedly lost control of his vehicle before it violently crashed into a post.
The 40-year-old was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, where he was pronounced dead, said Hélène St-Pierre, spokeswoman for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
SQ snowmobiles and a collision investigation police officer were dispatched to the scene to try and determine the circumstances of this fatal dodge was added.
