Two men are in critical condition in hospital after being shot and injured in the Pointe-Saint-Charles neighborhood of Montreal’s Sud-Ouest neighborhood on Wednesday night.
Police were called to reports of gunfire around 11pm after a dispute allegedly escalated near the intersection of Dick-Irvin Street and Ash Avenue.
The two young men, aged 18 and 20, were hit by firearm bullets, said a spokesman for the Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).
The seriously injured were taken to a hospital in critical condition and their lives are in danger, said publicist Mariane Allaire Morin.
Housings were found on the ground while at least one suspect fled after the attempted murder, but no arrests have been made at the moment, according to the SPVM.
The crime scene was protected by a security perimeter for investigators, who would be assisted by the canine department, to analyze and try to determine the circumstances of the shooting, it added.
