A startling scene took place Tuesday in the Cedar Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis when a bus crashed into a popular restaurant and was almost completely inside the building.
According to social media reports, the collision occurred around 12:15 p.m. at the intersection of Cedar and Riverside streets. Photos posted on Twitter Mason Butler (of KFAI AM Drive) reveals that a University of Minnesota bus crashed into Acadia, a restaurant, craft beer bar and concert hall.
The bus appears to be almost entirely inside the building, with only its rear wheels protruding onto the pavement.
Witnesses saw the bus crash into the restaurant, stop, and then continue forward again, Butler said. Acadia opens at 11 am on Tuesdays. It is not known how many people were inside at that time.
Metro Transit and the Minneapolis police said the bus was part of the University of Minnesota’s fleet and referred questions to the university.
