The James Bond actor faces two charges for entering a forbidden thermal area of Yellowstone National Park in November 2023. The hot springs and Mammoth Terraces thermal area are both fragile ecosystems in the park. They are also dangerous. Twenty people have died from falling into boiling water, and last November a deceased man was found floating in one of the hot springs.

The park regulations are very strict. Visitors are required to adhere to the following rules: “Do not travel to thermal areas after dark; Provisions are not permitted in thermal areas; it is forbidden to modify the sources or place objects in them; and it is forbidden to swim, dive or bathe in waters of exclusively thermal origin. »

Pierce Brosnan was summoned to the Yellowstone Justice Center on January 23 to respond to these subpoenas, which are considered violations of the law. However, the actor requested that the hearing be canceled and pleaded not guilty in written documents. The hearing was postponed and is now scheduled for a virtual conference on February 20.

If 70-year-old Pierce Brosnan is convicted of the crime he is charged with, he could face a fine of up to $5,000. Previously, visitors were punished with up to six months in prison for the same crime.

At the time of the alleged crime, the actor was filming the western “The Unholy Trinity” with Samuel L. Jackson in neighboring Montana.
