Mr Fitzgibbon is known as a dealmaker and appears to take his role very seriously in his personal life too.

Although he is known for his deep wallet, he is still on the lookout for bargains at the grocery stores.

His office noted that it is “normal for the minister to monitor fluctuations in food prices.”

“The price of the shopping basket is one of the main concerns of Quebecers,” wrote the minister’s press secretary, Mathieu St-Amant.

Manon Massé responded on the social network X and reiterated that Québec Solidaire would soon make a proposal for the price of the food basket.

“Mr. Fitzgibbon. I hope you will listen this time,” she said.
