Ten days before the start of the regular season in the National Hockey League (NHL), contract negotiations between striker Shane Pinto and the Ottawa Senators continue to be difficult.
According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, the Ottawa club made the 22-year-old athlete an offer of $1 million for one season. However, the latter would prefer a salary around $2.5 million.
“The senators are at the ceiling […] “They have considered postponing another contract to make room under the cap and seem confident that they will be able to do so once they reach an agreement with Pinto,” the journalist wrote on the website Sportsnet.
Pinto, who could request a deal to release things, would like to remain in Ottawa. The “Sens” also have no intention of sending it to other heavens.
However, both sides are visibly frustrated as the talks have been going on for a long time.
“The bottom line is that a simple phone call can make a difference,” Friedman continued. But the blockage lasted all summer, the season starts in 10 days and everyone is visibly frustrated.
Last year, Pinto scored 20 goals and 15 assists for 35 points in 82 games. He was selected 32nd overall by the Senators in the 2019 draft.
