A Qatar Airways plane made a stopover in Cyprus before flying to Israel, avoiding a nonstop flight that could also be the first direct route between Qatar and Israel.
Thus, the triangular route was able to avoid some embarrassment as Qatar has ties to Iran and Hamas and has acted as an intermediary between Israel, the United States and terrorist groups.
The aircraft in question was not one of Qatar Airways’ large passenger jets, but a Gulfstream G650ER, a business jet with the registration A7CGF (similar to the one in the photo above).
The plane took off from Doha, stopped in Larnaca and then flew to Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. After a brief stopover in Tel Aviv, the aircraft returned to Doha with the same stopover in Cyprus.
Qatar’s stance on nonrecognition of Israel occasionally provokes commentary. The latest statement came from researcher Frank Luntz, who pointed out that Israel is not represented on the maps displayed on board flights, as seen in his post below on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
