A year ago, the Jaguars tagged Robinson and then drafted Trevor Lawrence as the overall winner. After a tumultuous 2021 season, Jacksonville went into the offseason knowing it would once again be No. 1 overall draft — and that it must continue to protect the franchise’s greatest asset (Lawrence). For one of their first big moves, the Jags again tagged Robinson.
Robinson has underperformed in Jacksonville, especially as the strides he made during his promising 2017 rookie campaign were derailed by a cruciate ligament tear two games in 2018. But the fact of the matter is, he’s 26 when it comes to blocking. Tackles with over 60 career starts aren’t just sitting loose.
Despite all the flak he’s received, Robinson has been the team’s left starting player (when healthy) since Day 1 of his career. Bookend Jawaan Taylor, who has also started since Week 1 of his rookie season in 2019, has allowed the second-most pressure (133) in the NFL during that span, according to the PFF. Robinson has allowed 116 prints since 2019, the seventh most in the league. Despite this, Robinson is coming off his best season, according to the PFF, posting career highs in overall (67.4) and pass blocking (76.6) grades. He allowed just one sack in 539 pass protection snaps.
