The 2022 Players Championship could get very strange on Saturday after a crazy first two days at TPC Sawgrass. After long delays on Thursday and Friday, which caused the action to be stopped early, Round 1 is still in progress as players will complete the remainder of their first rounds, which will not begin until noon on Saturday.
As a result, the start of Round 2 has now been moved to the late afternoon and evening, and strong winds are expected in TPC Sawgrass for most of the day, making this already weird tournament all the more insane. The conclusion of this week’s event on Monday is not only expected, but also an encouraging conclusion.
No matter what, golf is yet to be played, and golf will be played… at some point. Tommy Fleetwood, Bryce Garnett and Tom Hoge lead the Under 6s together, but there are some big names chasing them as well. Daniel Berger is just one back. Dustin Johnson and Scotty Sheffler are back. Will Zalatoris, John Rahm and Louis Ousthuisen will return to the field. And some golfers — like Justin Thomas, who is currently 2 years younger but has only played 15 holes — still have some work to do on Saturday morning and afternoon.
