At a news conference on Sunday, Pierre Poilievre again accused Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of blaming the rising cost of living.

“That does not make sense. […] It’s widened deficits, raised inflation and raised interest rates, which has pushed up monthly mortgage payments for ordinary Canadians,” he said.

Poilievre says he wants “the budget to turn Canada back into a country that works for hard-working people. Treasury Secretary Chrystia Freeland announced on Friday that she will start the next federal budget on Tuesday, April 28.

First, the Conservative Party leader calls for “bringing home strong paychecks” and lowering taxes. “We need a system that rewards work and encourages more work among our people,” he said.

He also wants to make prices more affordable by abolishing the CO2 tax. “The CO2 tax makes gas and groceries more expensive,” he said.

After all, he wants to create more affordable housing through accelerated building permit procedures.
