A 17-year-old suspect was arrested in the attempted armed robbery and auto theft by Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. in August, according to Washington, DC police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Robinson was shot twice in the leg during the attempted robbery.
Authorities do not believe Robinson was targeted.
Police Chief Robert Contee told reporters that tips from the community helped them make the arrest Wednesday morning.
Police are asking for help locating two other people linked to this case.

“This arrest was the result of hard work and dedication to the mission to fight violent crime,” Christopher C. Amon, the ATF’s Assistant Special Agent in Charge, told reporters Wednesday.
Robinson was in Washington on Aug. 28 when he was apparently approached by two youths who were trying to steal his car and a fight ensued, police said at the time.
Robinson was selected from Alabama in the third round of the 2022 draft in April.
He returned to the pitch for the first time since his injury in October.
