No fewer than 11 firearms were found hidden in board games, a McDonald’s paper bag or even in the unfinished walls of an Airbnb in Minnesota, where police were investigating a simple card affair involving stolen funds.
“[Le suspect] “went from a 5-star Airbnb to the county jail,” the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office reported on Facebook on Tuesday, according to various American media reports.
Last week, county police were contacted after a man in Minnesota had his wallet stolen and reported a $577 transaction at Target using his stolen credit card, according to Fox News.
Police then managed to get the suspect, without the owner’s knowledge, to a party at an Airbnb where more than 50 people aged 15 to 21 were staying on Saturday.
However, by ordering everyone to leave the area, things “took a worrying and dangerous turn,” police noted in their release.
“Our officers found 11 illegally possessed firearms hidden in plants, in board games, on a stove, in unfinished walls and in handbags,” he said, attaching photos.
One was also reportedly found in a McDonald’s fast food paper bag.
Notably, some of these weapons were equipped with automatic triggers, allowing a semi-automatic pistol to be converted into a fully automatic pistol “capable of firing dozens of shots in just a few seconds,” the sheriff’s office added.
“Who brought these weapons to the party? We are working on answering the question. But one thing is certain: we never know where a file will lead us. And in this case, it led to the arrest of a credit card thief and the seizure of 11 illegal handguns,” he concluded in his release.
