Police investigate suspected actor José Dumont raped another child

Civil Police are investigating the case of another child suspected of being sexually abused by actor José Dumont who was arrested in the act last Thursday (15). The artist was investigated by the Child and Adolescent Victim Police Station (DCAV) for raping a 12yearold boy. The information is contained in the Rio Court of Justice’s decision authorizing the search and seizure of Dumont’s home in Rio’s South Zone. According to Judge Daniel Werneck Cotta, who is signing the warrant, police are trying to identify the child, who would be a similar age to the other victim.

In the document, which evaluates investigators’ requests for the actor’s temporary arrest and for the search and seizure of cell phones, notebooks and tablets that could contain pornographic material involving minors, the judge emphasizes that this is one of the police’s justifications for the arrest request which was eventually rejected; Dumont was arrested redhanded for having child pornography material at home it would be the existence of another potential rape victim.

In an excerpt from the decision, Cotta emphasizes two observations made by the investigating officers: “In its statement, the police authority justifies that the provisional arrest would be necessary ‘in order to identify another child of a similar age to X. (name of the child). ‘potential victim of the suspect’ and that ‘it is important to investigate him as several other children may already have been similar to the suspect’s target (…)'”.

Actor José Dumont was the subject of investigations in an investigation at DCAV for the crime of raping a vulnerable person. According to police, he used his prestige and recognition as an actor to attract the attention of a 12yearold teenager who was his fan. The investigation also indicates that he developed a close relationship with the boy, offering financial help and gifts and taking advantage of the victim’s financial vulnerability to make advances with kisses on the mouth and intimate caresses from there were finally captured by cameras, surveillance, opening an investigation.

Police also reported that during the searches, images and videos of sex with children were found on the personal computer and cellphone of the persons being investigated, leading to arrests in the act.

Confronted with the child pornography images confiscated from his cell phone and PC, the actor confirmed in a statement made to police on Thursday (15) that O GLOBO had access that they were his property and were part of a “study on future Realization of a work on the subject, without taboos and filters”.

With a career spanning more than 40 years, José Dumont has been cast in the soap opera ‘Todos as Flores’ on Globoplay, TV Globo’s streaming platform, which is set to premiere in October. In a statement, Globo explained that the actor has been removed from the storyline, which was created and written by João Emanuel Carneiro under the artistic direction of Carlos Araujo.
