Police Investigate Suspicious Package at Ogilvy Transportation Center, Meter Service Stopped

Train traffic on three subway lines was abruptly halted during rush hour on Monday afternoon as police investigated a suspicious package at the Ogilvie Transportation Center, law enforcement said.

At approximately 4:04 p.m., officers arrived at the 500 block of West Madison Street to pick up a suspicious package at the train station, according to Chicago police. According to the authorities, the staff evacuated the station, there were no casualties.

According to police, a K-9 police officer arrived on the scene.

A Metra spokesperson confirmed to NBC 5 that police are investigating an unattended bag on a vehicle at the West Loop gate, but did not provide further details.

According to Metra’s website, inbound and outbound train traffic has been halted on the Union Pacific North, Northwest and West lines.

Photos and videos posted on social media show that large crowds gathered in the common area of ​​the transport center during the investigation.

Traffic was blocked northbound on the canal from Madison and eastbound on Washington from Clinton to the canal while officers worked on the scene. CTA bus traffic was also changed due to street closures.
