He thought he had found a 13-year-old girl who had succumbed to her courtship and who he would later go to bed with. In reality, whoever he was chatting with was an undercover cop on the hunt for pedophiles. This is how an agent of the British Metropolitan Police was discovered, who was arrested and subsequently sentenced to five years in prison. Francois Olwage, who worked as an investigator for the military’s anti-terrorist unit, has been found guilty in Winchester Crown Court of three counts of sexual offenses against children.
As the Daily Mail reported, the 52-year-old was accused of luring a teenager he thought he had met online and was arrested by police at a McDonald’s in Basingstoke as he was shopping for a McFlurry to which the presumed girl had asked him . Officers found he was carrying condoms, erection pills, lube and a Ferrero Rocher he was planning to give the young woman. In delivering the verdict, Judge Jane Miller said: “As a police officer, one should have expected his conduct to be of impeccable standards. Citizens expect trust in police officers and their integrity. Intent to sexually exploit a little girl, she showed complete disregard for her role.”
The undercover officer was called Smile Bear on the Lycos chat forum and when he started talking on WhatsApp he said his name was Caitlin. The meeting was then organized after two weeks of explicit sexual talk that took place in October 2021 and on the day of the meeting the police officer was on a shift from home.
