Poll: 76% of French people are concerned about the Russian nuclear threat

Vladimir Putin waved the nuclear threat on Sunday as part of a war against Ukraine. Although tensions have not eased and fighting is intensifying this Wednesday in Kyiv, 76% of French people say they are concerned about this Russian nuclear threat, according to an exclusive CSA study for CNEWS.

In detail, this survey reveals that 30% of French people are “very worried”, 46% say they are “quite worried”, 20% “not very worried” and only 4% of respondents say they are not worried.

Proportions that vary depending on the guerrilla proximity of the respondents. While 78% of left-wing voters and even 82% of people close to the Socialist Party are worried, the ratio drops to 64% for far-right voters on the political spectrum.

Even 38 percent of Eric Zemmour’s Reconquête voters say they are not worried about the Russian threat and are the least afraid of Russia’s full-scale nuclear offensive. 76% of Republicans fear an attack from Moscow, the same result for respondents from La République en Marche.

incomparable ability to attack

On Sunday, February 27, Vladimir Putin ordered his generals to bring “the forces to deter the Russian army into special combat readiness.” A wording that does not explicitly speak of Russia’s nuclear arsenal, but leaves no doubt about Moscow’s desire to make Ukraine and Western countries that support it tremble, reminding them of Russia’s superiority in nuclear matters.

Its arsenal is indeed the largest in the world, as Russia has 5,977 warheads against 5,428 for the United States, 350 for China and 290 for France.

Despite Vladimir Putin’s threats, the United States has questioned the possibility of a Russian nuclear attack in Ukraine or elsewhere, and Joe Biden has said he is not worried. However, US diplomacy condemned this “unnecessary and dangerous provocative rhetoric.” For Germany, the unrest of the nuclear threat was caused by the other side of the Russian army, which did not expect such resistance from the Ukrainian army.
