PARIS, June 9 (Prensa Latina) The coalition Together led by the ruling La República en Marcha (LREM) party would win France’s general elections, albeit with no guarantees of retaining an absolute majority in the National Assembly, a poll today shows.
Although the Ipsos-Sopra Steria poll predicts an advantage for left-wing bloc Nueva Unión Popular Ecologista y Social (Nupes) in the first round on June 12, the ruling party would dominate in the second, announced a week later, with between 260 and 300 deputies of the 577 seats in the Chamber.
According to the research, the coalition of rebels, environmentalists, socialists and communists would get 28 percent of the vote, against 27 for Together, but by the end of the general election it would have 175 to 215 seats in the assembly, an example of having the last word on French soil area of legislation.
LREM, the Democratic Movement and Horizontes are trying to clear the way for re-elected President Emmanuel Macron in his second five-year term with the Bourbon Palace majority of at least 289 MPs, while Nupes tries to contain his politics with control of the chamber briefly.
The poll, conducted for the public media Radio France and France Télévisions, puts the ailing conservative party The Republicans, allied with the Union of Democrats and Independents, in third place, with between 35 and 55 seats.
For their part, the far-right National Group and its leader Marine Le Pen would gain between 20 and 60 seats.
