Poll: FIDEZ in the lead in Hungarian elections

In the Hungarian parliamentary elections, shortly after polling stations close at 7 pm, there are signs that the ruling FIDEZ party will take the lead. This is the result of a post-election poll by the Median Institute, as reported by Hungarian state television tonight.

Thus, FIDEZ receives 121 and the opposition alliance 77 of the 199 seats in parliament. With that, FIDEZ would win for the fourth time in a row, but this time they lost a two-thirds majority.

According to this survey, which was published by the private TV broadcaster RTL Klub, neither the extremist right-wing party “Mi Hazan” (Our Motherland) nor the satirical Two-Tailed Dog Party (MKKP) would make it to parliament 199 One representative of the German-speaking minority, which had always voted with FIDEZ in previous years, would be seated.

According to the electoral authority (NVI), the turnout at 6:30 pm was 67.8 percent, just below the levels of four years ago. Overall, it is likely to be the third largest share since 1990, after 2002 (70.53%) and 2018 (70.22%).
